Choi Family Sky Mural in Beverly Hills Ca.
This was a fun project! First off, the house itself was incredible. It was nestled off Benedict Canyon in Beverly Hills Ca, one of my favorite streets. They were still under some renovation with the house, but the kids room was ready for me. A little boy and girl shared this giant room, probably 15x17’ in size. The color pallette for the room were soft whites, pastels, hardwood floors…perfect. I chose a soft pretty blue for the washed sky, then added creams, gray, and white for the clouds. Of course, a signature item in many of my sky murals is the skywriting airplane. And the cutest “We love you” saying. Adding a heart shape gives it something specail also…at least I think so. I even added a dinosaur cloud, can you spot it? I don’t remember the blue color I picked off hand, and I always write in it my black book of murals, but it was spot on! I can tell you that my white that I always choose is called “Polar Bear” by Behr. It’s literally the BEST white out there and my GO TO for sky murals! Everytime I paint for a client, I walk away learning something. Whether it be something with the job itself, a moment shared between me and the client, or even something small like an object. With this trip I became more into making sure I gave myself more self care. I had just finished radiation (had cancer) and the client knew about it. She gave me incredible words that she follows everyday and gave me tips, even products she uses that I started using. I noticed also that even with her schedule, she took care of her first. Don’t get me wrong, I already knew this stuff, but it really stuck with this trip…literally. So for the past year and half, I’ve done just that. I come first everyday when it comes to self care, working out, yoga, etc. I have really been a good patient, according to my doctors orders of making excerise a top priority. So I encourage you all to do the same! Your mental health will thank you for it also!
Ciao xoxo
